The Tijuana Estuary, located at the intersection of the United States and Mexico, faces significant environmental challenges, including pollution. This region, at the end of the Tijuana River watershed, accumulates pollutants from a variety of sources in both nations, affecting its ecological health. To address this, the SonTek-RS5 Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) is being used to monitor the estuary's tidal movements. This sophisticated tool helps to understand the movement of water and pollutants, providing essential data for cross-border cooperation on environmental management. By analyzing how pollution flows through the estuary, both countries can work together more effectively to develop strategies that protect and rehabilitate this important natural habitat.
