The event in short was a 2 day seminar to introduce SonTek (and to many acoustic Doppler) for hydrology applications. We looked at the RiverSurveyor and HydroSurveyor, SLs and IQs and of course the FT2. The event was attended by 50+ practitioners from all over Egypt, but included researchers from the Suez Canal and universities, hydrologists from the state environmental organization.
Day one was held in the Marriott Hotel beside the Nile and day two was a field day on an arm of the Nile (away from the busy vessel movement on the main river). We initially used the hydrology team’s gauging boat but with so many people wanting to see the M9 in use we switched to the using the foot passenger ferry a few meters downstream of the gauging section.
